Notice of Proposed Bylaw Amendments

by Ronald Revell, RDT, posted on January 7, 2022

At its meeting on December 11, 2021, the College of Dental Technicians of BC approved draft amendments to the College’s Bylaws. Notice of these amendments is hereby provided to the Minister of Health, the public and other interested stakeholders as required by section 19 (6.2) of the Health Professions Act.

The College is requesting a change to the bylaws to allow the term of office for every elected board member who held office on December 1, 2021 to be extended by one year. Given the timelines related to the pending amalgamation of our College with the three other oral health colleges, this change will provide stability and consistency for the governance of CDTBC to successfully support that transition. The amendments will also provide the Board with the ability to appoint an eligible registrant to fill a pending vacancy for an elected member in any subsequent election period in the event that the number of nominations received is less than that required to fill the number of pending vacancies.

CDTBC may be requesting the Minister of Health for a shorter notice period and disallowance period, therefore we are asking for any feedback on the proposed amendments to be returned to CDTBC and to the Minister of Health no later than noon on January 21, 2022.
