The College of Dental Technicians of British Columbia is a regulatory college established by Regulation under the Health Professions Act and exists to protect the rights of the public to safe, effective and ethical services offered by dental technicians in BC.

The College must at all times act in the public interest and operate under the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness.

CDTBC registrants are required to practice in accordance with the Bylaws of the College, including the Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics.

The College's responsibilities include:

  • Setting entry qualifications
  • Administering licensure examinations
  • Registering qualified dental technicians
  • Setting and monitoring:
    • practice standards
    • ethical standards
    • requirements for continuing education
  • Investigating complaints
  • Disciplining registrants

The College's Board is made up of five elected Dental Technicians, one elected Dental Technician Assistant and three government appointed public members.

The College has just under 900 registrants providing services in approximately 300 laboratories throughout BC.
